"Dhime" is a traditional Newari musical instrument. It has a very important part to be played in Newar community and also very popular along Newars. It is a cylindrical type of somewhat like a drum but consists of two drum skin on the either side. The drum skins are literally made of animal skins. The lateral part of dhime is either made of wood or nickel. the drum skins are tightened by animal veins or skins which is supported by the two skin one to another. Like that in drum it also consists a somewhat like a drumstick but only one. The stick is called "Tae-khur-cha". It is made from bamboo stick which is bent into a spiral shape at one end. The dhime baja is carried on the shoulders with a belt like stripe just like the one in guitars. The one end of dhime is beaten with taekhurcha with one hand and the other end is beaten with bare palms one after other or at same time producing a rhythmic beat sound and music.
